Wednesday, June 26th. We left Liverpool at 2 p.m. after having had a very busy day in getting the Saints arranged in their berths. At 4 p.m. we had dinner, it was very formal on account of us not being acquainted with one another.
Thursday 27 we sailed during the night till [-] 240 miles. At noon we got into Queenstown where we got a lot of fishermen on board who were put down into the [-] hold. Our emigrants by having the hind part of the ship have by far the best berths. When we left [-] it showered and blew quite a gale consequently most of the emigrants seasick and myself among the rest didn't dine for dinner!
Friday 28. Sailed 107 miles only was too sick to eat. Saints do [-]. Heard they had the misfortune to change the [-] for making their chambers [p. 13] and dishes. A guard was put to prevent any repetition of this. On the first day [UNCLEAR, POSSIBLY OUT] we organized the company and appointed Hans Sorensen to preside over the emigrants as chaplain and divided the ship into 6 wards and 1 of English, & 1 president to preside over each.
Saturday 29th. We sailed 259 miles. I was sick, got up on deck once no while had to [-] more than common.
Sunday 30th. Sailed 219 miles. Was too sick to enjoy my meals, could keep nothing down.
Monday July 1st. We sailed 142 miles. I was sick. Read Coopers "[-] Admirals."
Tuesday July 2nd. Seasick. Had a hurrying aboard drank gruel to my meals. Kept it down. Sailed 232 miles.
Wednesday July 3rd. Felt better today. Played chess with some of the passengers beat them. Sailed 256 miles. [p. 14]
Thursday 4th July. We did not have any demonstration on account of the ship being an English one. I commenced to have good appetite. Plenty of dishes and everything one would wish for. Sailed 264 miles.
Friday 5th. Sailed 278 miles being the best sailing we have done. Played chess with George Reynolds.
Saturday 6th. Sailed 278 miles. We raised subscription to pay custom house officers about 30 dollars; got aboard 60 dollars.
Sunday 7th. I proposed to the Saints that we give Brother [Erik] Petersen what is left after we have paid the customs to which they were willing. 246 miles.
Monday 8th. Wrote to President Petersen about the accounts. The sea was smooth as a piece of glass. Saw many porpoises and swordfish. Sailed 262 miles. [p. 15][ABRUPT END OF JOURNAL ACCOUNT]
