. . . Friday morning [-] o'clock the 25th we were seen by a doctor and went onboard the boats "Atlantick" and "Cato." We from Sweden were on "Cato." Many were sick.
On the 28th, 4 o'clock a.m. came "Cato" to Hull, England. "Atlantik" came a few hours afterwards. We left Hull with [by] the train 4:30 p.m. Came to Liverpool 11 o'clock in the evening.
The 29th we went on board the ship Idaho, which was to take us over the Atlantic to America. Went out to [-] and loaded coal. . .until the 1 July. Then we passed Ireland; stopped at Queenstown and took on many emigrants who wanted to go to the states.
On the 2nd , it blew so that the water threw up over the front of the boat.
On the 4th we held a service; we had a good song choir along from Norway, and they gave us song many times during the voyage.
On the 7th an old sister from Skåne died.
On the 13th we arrived from New York.
On the 14 we came into Castle Garden. I will here state how far we went each 24 hours on the ocean. Begin on:
July 2 with 165 miles; the 3rd, 236; the 4th, 234; the 5th, 264; the 6th, 253; the 7th, 227 1/4; the 8th, 240; the 9th, 250; the 10th, 225; the 11th, 263 1/2; the 12th, 235; the 13th, 268; leaving 53 1/4.
Total from Liverpool to New York: 3160 miles. [p.52]
We were about 600 Mormons in the group this time.
On the 15th we left New York.
The 18th we went over the Mississippi River. Changed trains.
On the 19th came to Council Bluffs, changed trains again. Went over the Missouri River to Omaha. There we had to buy food for 3 days. Brother and Sister Blomquist's daughter Alga, 16 months old died in Evanston. Was buried in Ogden, Utah. We came to Ogden in the evening of the 22nd, when my sister Edla received us. There I met many acquaintances. Came to Salt Lake City 12 o'clock midnight. My sisters had room for us when we came, Father and I.
The 24th was a holiday for the people in Utah and was celebrated in a big grand way. . . . [p.53]
