Ebenezer Bryce son of Andrew Bryce & Janet Adams [sic], born November 17th 1830 at Dunblane, Perthshire Scotland; my parents were members of [the] Reformed Presbyterian Church, also known as Covenanters. Father moved to Tullibody, Clackmannshire when I was about 18 months old. At the age of 15 was apprentice in the shipyard for 5 years but early in the spring of 1848, I became united with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, was baptized by William Paterson, a priest. Witnesses, William Fotheranham [sic] and John Fortune, confirmed under the hands of John Russal [sic] and John Sharp. Emigrated to the United States the same year in John Sharp Company. Arrived in New Orleans October 27, 1848. Stayed in New Orleans a short time thence to St. Louis, Missouri. Moved from thence in the Winter of 49 to Paduca , Kantuca [sic]. Left there and started for Salt Lake City in March 1850. Arrived September 16th. . . [p. 204-205]
