"DEPARTURE OF THE SEPTEMBER COMPANY. -- On Saturday last at 3 p.m., a company of Saints, in charge of Elder James Finlayson, left Liverpool on the S. S. Wyoming, of the Guion Line, bound for Utah Territory, via New York. The company consisted of nationalities as follows: English, Scotch and Welsh, 311; Scandinavian, 270; Swiss and German, 37; returning elders, 21; visitors, 5. Total number of souls 644.
Following are the names of the returning missionaries: James Finlayson, Thomas Maycock, W. C. Rydalch, Zerah P. Terry. William Jack, Thomas Jackson, Joseph Carlisle, J. M. Wiser, J. W. Gardiner, John Urie, Thomas D. Reese, William Robert, Joseph Wadley, L. M. Olson, Hans Funk, Christain Jensen, O. N. Stohl, N. B. Adler, A. L. Skanchy, John Dale and John Johnson. The visitors were David Urie, T. L. Pringle, Jane Edwards and child, and Frederika Nilsson.
We wish these brethren and sisters a fair and speedy passage across the Atlantic, and a pleasant and propitious journey overland to the mountain home of God's people."

". . . On August 29, 1881, a company of 270 emigrating Saints from Scandinavia sailed from Copenhagen, on the steamer 'Pacific,' under the direction of Elders Lars M. Olson, Hans Funk and Christen Jensen. Five other returning missionaries accompanied them, viz: Ole N. Stohl, Nils B. Adler, Anthon L. Skanchy, John Dahle and Jorgen Jorgensen, and also Sister Fredrika Nilsson from Tooele, Utah, who had been visiting relatives in Sweden. The whole company numbered 279 souls. After a successful voyage, the steamer arrived at Hull, England, Sept. 1, 1881, and the emigrants proceeded by rail to Liverpool, from which place they together with 311 British and 37 Swiss and German Saints and 13 returning missionaries, sailed on the steamer 'Wyoming,' Sept. 3, 1881, and arrived in New York on the 13th. The next day (Sept. 14, 1881), the emigrants continued the journey westward by railroad train and arrived all well in Salt Lake City, Utah, Sept. 21,1881. An English sister, 67 years of age, died on the train, near Evanston, Wyoming, on the 20th. A child was born of English parentage on the ocean. Elder James Finlayson was leader of the company from Liverpool to Salt Lake City. . . ."
