British Mission Manuscript History Voyage Entry
“Wednesday, January 25. Elders Seymour B. Young, jun., John Bench, Richard D. Brown, Aaron Gay, John J. Williams, Ezra W. Robertson and Richard Sedgwick, who had labored as missionaries in Great Britain, sailed from Liverpool per steamship ‘Teutonic,’ on their return to Zion; they were accompanied by two emigrating Saints from the British Isles. (Orig. Doc.)” [BMMH, 1893]. “The return voyage from Liverpool was made on the White Star steamer Teutonic. On the voyage rough weather was encountered for three days. On one of these - Sunday, January 29th - Elder Gay was thrown to the deck by a lurch of the vessel. His nose came into contact with a railing and was broken. The injury was attended to by the ship’s surgeon, and the healing process is going on satisfactorily” [DN, 46:259].
