"DEPARTURE OF THE FIRST COMPANY. -- Our first company of this year's emigration, numbering 117 souls, and five returning missionaries, left Liverpool on Guion & Co's steamship Nevada, on Wednesday, May 24th, at 11:30 a.m., under the presidency of Elder John Woodhouse. The Saints on board were generally in good health and excellent spirits. We cordially wish them a safe and pleasant journey.

"Wed. 24. [May 1876] -- The steamship Nevada sailed from Liverpool, England, with 131 Saints, in charge of John Woodhouse. The company arrived at New York June 5th, and at Salt Lake City June 14th."
