Eldredge and James Graham and 28 Saints emigrating to Utah from Australia, on board the ship Julia Ann, were wrecked on a coral reef near the Society Islands. Five persons were drowned and the rest barely escaped with their lives and landed on a barren and uninhabited island (Scilly Island), where they subsisted on turtle for six weeks, when they were rescued."
