British Mission Manuscript History Voyage Entry
Notes: [Voyage information has a line through it.]
“Thursday, Jan. 14 . . Departures – To-day there sailed for Utah, on the s.s. ‘Canopic,’ President Francis M Lyman, for two and one-half years president of the European Mission. He has visited every portion of the great field under his charge, including the Turkish Mission, Russia, Palestine, and Egypt, and his labors have been crowned with success. President Lyman was accompanied by Elder Joseph J Cannon, who has completed a mission of fifty-two month’s duration, first as president of the Stockholm conference, and afterwards, as an associate editor of the MILLENIAL STAR, in the Liverpool office; also, by Elder Henry H.Blood, who came to England with President Lyman, and who has performed a most successful mission as president of the Grimsby conference and, for the past eighteen months, as president of the London conference. These brethren have the love, best wishes and prayers of all with whom they have been associated for their safe journey home, and for their future success in whatever vocation they may be engaged. On the same steamer sailed Elder J Alma Holdaway, of Vernal after a service of more than four years in the Turkish mission; also Elder Ray McK Boyle of Ogden, and John Elkins of Salt Lake City, both honorably released from the German mission. (Mill.Star, 66:26).” [BMMH, 1904].
